One woman is dead and another seriously injured after they collided travelling northbound in the outside lane of Interstate 75 early Sunday, according to a news release from Florida Highway Patrol.

Behind her was a 20-year-old also driving a sedan, who was unable to stop in time, deputies said, and collided with the car’s rear. The vehicles came to rest along the outside paved shoulder.

Both drivers are from Tampa, according to the release. The woman in front — who was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the release — died at the scene. The other sustained serious injuries.
