Florida State is recruiting some of the top prospects in the country and that has the program going head-to-head with other powers in the sport. One of the key battles on the trail is with rivals Miami and Florida for talented recruits across the southeast.

The Seminoles have gotten off to a solid start amongst the 'big three' programs. FSU holds 11 commitments and the No. 8 class in the country. The Gators have eight commits and the No. 13 class while Miami sits at No. 27 with nine pledges.

On Monday afternoon, four-star tight end Kylan Fox announced on social media that he was canceling his official visit to Miami. Fox has been trending to Florida State as of late in recruiting circles and is scheduled to return to Tallahassee for an official visit from June 23-25.

This is a big development as the Hurricanes were hoping to make a move in Fox's recruitment. Instead, he'll visit Georgia Tech this upcoming weekend prior to checking out Colorado. Fox was at UCF over the past couple of days.

The Georgia native has been to Florida State twice this year with the most recent trip coming in May. Though the Seminoles already have a tight end committed in their 2024 class, that isn't a deterrent to Fox.

In fact, five-star tight end pledge Landen Thomas has been recruiting Fox to join him at FSU. The two played against one another earlier in their careers and it only makes sense to join forces at this stage.

"He wants me to come play with him," Fox said previously. "We've been growing up playing against each other our childhood. It'd just be good to be on the big stage together."

Florida State appears poised to land Fox's commitment if the program nails his official visit later this month. Tight ends coach Chris Thomsen, offensive coordinator Alex Atkins, and head coach Mike Norvell have remained heavily involved from the start of this recruitment.

"Feeling at home here. Like an hour and 30 away from where I'm from," Fox said previously. "It's like I said, the relationships I have with the coaches and everybody, it just feels great here."

During his junior season at Grayson High School, Fox caught 25 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns.

The 6-foot-4, 208-pound tight end is regarded as the No. 144 overall prospect, the No. 9 ATH, and the No. 20 recruit in the state of Georgia according to 247Sports.
