Tallahassee Applebee's location permanently closes. Here's what we know

“Thank you for many years of business! This location has closed,” are the final words left this week on a typed sign at Applebee’s Grill + Bar, 1355 Apalachee Parkway. 

After 15 years of business at Apalachee Parkway and Magnolia Drive, the eatery closed its doors permanently on May 28 and cleanup operations have begun. 

Applebee’s is a full-service chain restaurant and bar that serves mainstream favorites including $13.99 burger bundles, salads, pasta and more with “2 for $25” steak deals.

" All team members were offered positions at our other area locations,” Pamela Jones, vice president of marketing for Neighborhood Restaurant Partners, an Applebee's franchisee, said in an email sent to the Tallahassee Democrat. The Parkway location permanently closed May 28.

This location attached to Wyndham Garden Tallahassee Capitol once was a hotspot for the hotel's guests who walked a few steps from the lobby to its entrance for lunch, dinner, a drink or mingling.

Arjada Johnson, a front desk agent for the hotel, said she cannot predict the impact the restaurant’s closing will have on the adjoined hotel, but she can already see that it has some people displeased after only a couple of days of closure. 

“A lot of people stay here because of it,” said Johnson who’s been with Wyndham Garden Tallahassee for three months.

Johnson estimates that at least 10 people have asked her about the status of the restaurant since the doors officially closed.

The convenience of this location has been a focus of the hotel’s advertising on their website as a convenient spot to visit loved ones, see the city and dine in at their on-site Applebee’s. 

The chain has two other locations in Tallahassee: 1388 Capital Circle NW and 4040 Lagniappe Way.
