Teen arrested for having a gun at Jack McLean Jr. Park

A teenage boy was arrested Tuesday at Jack McLean Jr. Park after a resident reported he had a gun, said Tallahassee Police Department public information officer Heather Merritt.

The teen was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center after officers quickly responded to the call and cleared the scene, Merritt said. The boy is facing a charge of carrying a firearm by a juvenile.

He was with a group when the resident called, but no others were arrested or detained, she said.

"We are thankful for our residents who are vigilant in reporting these things in our community," Merritt said.
