UPDATE 5/31/2023: Tallahassee Police Department says the remains were found under a paved road during sewer work. They plan to look into the history of the area and any changes made to it.

Tallahassee Police Department is looking into skeletal remains that were found at a construction site in the area of Zillah Street, north of Omega Avenue.
Preliminary findings indicate the skeletal remains are human, according to the police department.
Just after 11 a.m., TPD says workers discovered the skeletal remains while digging and immediately notified law enforcement.
Forensics crews and police spent hours digging through dirt to uncover any extra evidence.
Keisha Walters lives feet away from where the remaisn were found. Her daughter, Kieara, visits her a few times a week and said this is shocking.
"It's really random. It's kind of out of the blue," Walters said. "It makes me wonder what else might be around if they keep digging."
This is an open and active investigation.
