TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — UPDATE 12:39 p.m.: The Tallahassee Police Department said 35-year-old Durrell Lee is facing possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, trafficking heroin, trafficking cocaine, trafficking a barbiturate drug, trafficking amphetamine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of a hallucinogen with intent to sell, and possession of paraphernalia offenses.

The woman who was shot and died from injuries sustained from the shooting was 25-year-old Asia Fitzgerald.

Tallahassee police say one person is dead after an attempted officer ambush Thursday night at Tom Brown Park.

TPD says it happened about 10:30 p.m. after officers received a tip that a person matching the description of someone who ran from a drug investigation was seen at the park.

TPD says when officers and a Leon County Deputy arrived to assist, an armed woman starting firing shots at them.
That's when officers fired shots back hitting the woman.
That person was taken to the hospital where they later died.

Tallahassee police held a press conference at 9 a.m. Friday.

City of Tallahassee mayor John Dailey released a statement Friday morning.

"I am proud of the swift response of our TPD officers last night when an armed individual was reported in the park. In line with their training, they responded bravely to protect the public. I am extremely grateful that no injuries were sustained by our officers, who put their lives on the line for our community every day."
