Ricky, Ricky didn't show, but Buzzard Fest still fun
The 20th annual Buzzard Fest was filled with a variety of good music, some good food, and entertainment by the ladies from the Crack O'Dawn Dancers. Ralph Bourne, host and and talented founder of the Buzzard Fest at the Barn Theater welcomed the large crowd for the evening, and sang his original songs welcoming the buzzards to roost in their eucalyptus tree habitat that surrounds the theater. Bourne sang the song of the "Lost Fisherman", "Ricky Ricky Come Home" asking a young buzzard to come home and roost, and eat his "fill," and his classic, "I Ain't Dead Yet."

Out In Oildale, Luigi’s Has Been Packing Italian Sandwiches Into Bakersfield Lunches Since 1910
Most lunch spots last a few years. This one in Bakersfield has lasted more than a century, and it still serves only lunch. The doors open at 10:30 in the morning and close at 2:30 in the afternoon, yet the line forms anyway, with cars parked blocks away and families who have been coming for generations. Italian sandwiches are a big part of the draw, built on rolls from a neighborhood bakery and handed across a deli counter that has outlasted almost everything around it.
