This Small Montana Town Has Been Named The Best In America. According to Census.gov a city is considered a city when there are 50,000 people living in one area. That means Montana only has 4 "cities" and the rest would be considered towns, but it's one Montana town with a population under 10,000 that's be named the "best small town" in the state.

Search Continues for Hungry Horse Paddleboarder
A family's long cruel summer has now lasted three months. Emily Rea from West Glacier disappeared on the evening of July 16th after paddleboarding alone on Hungry Horse Reservoir. Her car had been found in Riverside Boat Launch site the next day and the board itself had been found in the Flossy Creek area of the reservoir, two miles downwind west of the boat launch. The watercraft was discovered upside down with the paddle assembled and stowed on the board.
Reward offered for poached elk, moose left to rot
KALISPELL — Game wardens are investigating a pair of cases involving game animals shot and left to waste.On Oct. 4, wardens responded to a report of an elk that was killed and left to waste on private property off the upper Thompson River Road. The head was removed from the elk and the rest was left. Anyone with possible information is asked to visit tipmont.mt.gov or call the local game warden at 406-250-9498 to provide details.In another local incident, wardens are seeking information on a cow moose that was shot and left to waste on Clark-Hinchwood (USFS 1027) Road outside Plains sometime between Sept. 27 and Oct. 4. Anyone with possible information is asked to visit tipmont.mt.gov or call the local game warden at 406-240-2271. Callers may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
Columbia Falls firefighters respond to shed fire
Columbia Falls firefighters responded to a shed/chicken coop fire on the North Fork Road Monday morning. The shed/coop looked to be a total loss. Columbia Falls Fire Chief Karl Weeks said the fire was likely caused by a heat lamp for chickens that was too close to cedar wood shavings. The chickens, however, were saved from the blaze by a neighbor. Smoke from the blaze was visible from town, as it was a fairly large shed/coop. Initial attack knocked the fire down and a tender truck was responded to put it out completely. Evergreen Fire Department responded with mutual aid.

The Libby Loggers football team had a night to forget Friday against Columbia Falls as the visiting Wildcats won, 49-0.The Loggers stopped CFalls on its first possession as Joel Goodman sacked quarterback Banyan Johnston and forced a punt. The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation is hosting its annual year-end celebration and fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 25, at the Flathead County Fairgrounds.
