A Myrtle Creek woman was jailed Monday on 13 charges stemming from 3 Douglas County Sheriff’s Office cases. A DCSO report said just before 2:00 p.m. a search warrant was served at a residence in the 700 block of Lees Creek Road. 45-year-old Alecia Garrick was taken into custody in front of her home after a short struggle. The property was searched, and allegedly stolen property was recovered.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s help looking for a 39-year-old man missing out of Lookingglass. The sheriff’s office says, Shane Patrick Thomas was last thought to be near Sparks, Nevada but was expected back home within a few days of October 1.

A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon. A Roseburg Police report said at 4:45 p.m. officers responded to the crash at the intersection of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard and Northeast Fowler Street. A juvenile driver was stopped on Fowler Street waiting to make a left turn onto Diamond Lake Boulevard.

No criminal charges were filed following a hit and run incident on Monday. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 12:00 p.m. a victim reported that an unknown sedan had side swiped his vehicle on Old Highway 99 South near Tipton Road, just south of Roseburg. A deputy located the vehicle in question, which had a small amount of paint transfer on the outside driver side mirror.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public in a missing person case. Family members have reported that 39-year-old Shane Thomas left his home in Lookingglass headed towards Shasta, California on September 26th. A text was received saying that Thomas would be home on September 28th. The last text received was on October 1st and stated that Thomas would be back home in a day or two. A friend was able to ping his phone that day and it showed a Sparks, Nevada location.

Roseburg Police cited two men for camping in Gaddis Park, in the 800 block of Northwest Highland Street, on Tuesday. An RPD report said at 4:30 p.m. a 41-year-old was contacted at his camp which was next to a running creek. It was set up after 8:00 a.m. and was larger than 10 feet by 10 feet. The man had been warned of the camping ordinance multiple times in the past. He was released after the citation was issued.

High temperatures in the Umpqua Valley will be back to near seasonal norms for the next couple of days. Forecasters at the National Weather Service told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that Roseburg should see a high in the low to mid 70’s on Wednesday and Thursday. Maximum temperatures should warm to between the upper 70s and 80 degrees for Friday through Monday.

On Tuesday, staff with the City of Reedsport was contacted regarding a sewage spill from a manhole near the 1800 block of Decker Point. City Manager Deanna Schafer said wastewater staff investigated and determined that a spill of approximately 40,000 gallons of raw sewage had been taken place. Schafer said the issue was determined to be a blocked line. The spill potentially reached Schofield Creek.

The City of Roseburg Fire Department is issuing burn permits through the end of October. Fire Marshal Cheryl Flick said the permits are issued for 7 days at a cost of $75. Residential yard waste is the only material that may be burned. Prohibited items include standing berry vines, paper, wood, plastics, tires, standing grass, weeds, construction material, and material from lot clearing. Burning may not be done on vacant lots or on property owned by someone else. Fires must be monitored by a competent adult and extinguished prior to darkness. Tools to control or extinguish the fire must be on-site whenever there is material burning.
