A Texas man's guilty plea to drug distribution charges could land him behind bars for up to 40 years. Julio Deleon, 38, from Brownsville, entered his plea in a federal case involving conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances. Dolcefino expressed interest in opening an office in the Rio Grande Valley due to the amount of coverage he is doing in the area, adding that he considered a location in front of San Benito City Hall.

HARLINGEN — Construction of Texas State Technical College’s three newest facilities at the Harlingen campus is on schedule. The building projects include a nearly 84,000-square-foot technology facility for the Automotive Technology and Diesel Equipment Technology programs, a 7,000-square-foot building for the Electrical Lineworker and Management Technology program, and renovation of an existing building that will house the Biomedical Equipment Technology, Plumbing and Pipefitting Technology and Wind Energy Technology programs in a 34,000-square-foot space.

The San Benito Consolidated Independent School District (SBCISD) School Board of Trustees held a meeting at Town Hall on Sept. 9, 2024. Dr. Ariel Cruz-Vela, board Vice-President, and Orlando Lopez, Board President, were absent. Alejandro Reyna, Board Trustee, arrived late. This meeting marked the beginning of the district’s five-year strategic plan.
