WILLIAMS COUNTY, N.D. (KFYR) - UPDATE: (10/6/2024 at 12:27 p.m.): More than eighteen local and regional agencies have been involved in the emergency response to large area grass fires in eastern Williams County on Oct. 5 and Oct. 6, 2024. As of 11 a.m. on Oct. 6, 2024, a large fire is still burning south of Highway 2 between Ray and Tioga, and first responders are continuing to respond to hotspots. Highway 2 is open and passable, but drivers should use caution and be aware of down power lines and poles.

RAY, N.D. (KUMV) - The winds have calmed, but the battle rages on as firefighters across North Dakota tackle several wildfires blazing through Williams County. Several fires started Saturday and moved fast due to gusts blowing more than 70 miles per hour. The smoke and wind created hazardous conditions that closed Highway 2 between Ray and Tioga on Friday night.

A large fire is burning just outside of Ray (McKenzie), North Dakota, which started this afternoon has just jumped Hwy 2 and is heading southeast according to scanner feed. Heavy smoke is billowing over the highway impacting traffic. One call came into dispatch of a crude oil truck in a ditch and needed assistance.

The Bunker is a youth indoor golf training facility with a putting green, three full-swing golf simulators and the ability to repair golf clubs.
