Gov. Andy Beshear joined the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and state and local officials to ceremonially break ground on a new state office building in Manchester for the eight-county highway District 11. The District 11 office is headquartered in Manchester, and staff oversee state highway construction and maintenance for Bell, Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Knox, Laurel, Leslie and Whitley counties. The new state-of-the art office building will replace the current, more-than-50-year-old office building, which originally opened in 1969. Trace Creek Construction was awarded an over $11 million contract to complete the project. Crews have mobilized to the site and construction is expected to begin this month, with an estimated completion date of early 2026.

Disabled American Veterans Chapter 158 is celebrating 45 years of supporting veterans in the Keavy community of Laurel County. During the anniversary celebration, Dennis Eaton, who was blinded in combat during the Vietnam War, was awarded a patriot certificate by the Sons of the American Revolution. Charles Hayes with the Sons of the American Revolution said they wanted to honor someone who has given a lot for his country. Eaton said despite his disability, he continues pushing through anything that comes his way. He said throughout the years, his community has supported him, which keeps him going. Charles Goguen led the Bulldogs with a second-place finish. He totaled 830 pins and an average of 207.5 over four games. Hunter Cain followed in ninth place with 766 pins and a 191.5 average. RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's golf team will head to Lexington tomorrow for the Cullan Brown Collegiate hosted by Kentucky.
