Port Deposit house destroyed; seven dogs perish in fire
PORT DEPOSIT — The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal continues to investigate a Saturday evening fire that destroyed a Post Road home and killed seven dogs. The fire at 16 Post Road was reported just before 7:30 p.m. Volunteers from the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun sent 50 firefighters to the scene and got the fire knocked down in 45 minutes. The fire had been discovered by residents, who told investigators it began in the kitchen. The family is being assisted by the Red Cross. Damage has been estimated at $250,000.
