MANDAREE, N.D. (KMOT) - Fire officials on the Fort Berthold Reservation said Mandaree is standing at about 13,000 acres of burned land. One unoccupied home was lost, but thankfully there are no reports of casualties or injuries. While some lost power or water over the weekend, services have been restored.

Scorched Earth. That's what the area around the town of Mandaree looks like as wildfires have ripped through the small community.

A number of wildfires popped up in western North Dakota this weekend, devastating thousands of acres of land and narrowly missing towns like Arnegard, Mandaree, and Ray. The large Elkhorn and Bear Den fires are still burning. Officials say the Bear Den fire near Mandaree is somewhat reduced, but the Elkhorn fire near Grassy Butte is not contained at all.
