JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - No changes to the forecast for the rest of this week, but they are coming soon!. If you’re like me and getting tired of highs in the mid to upper 80s I have good news... Big temperature drops are on the way early next week. While some of you will see highs near 90 on Sunday afternoon, we will all see highs near 70 by Tuesday. This will be thanks to a strong cold front headed our way. Unfortunately, this front does not look to bring any rain to central MS, just dry and much cooler air. Overnight lows will be in the mid and upper 40s from the middle through the end of the week.

CANTON, Miss. (WLBT) - A woman accused of killing a Canton teacher has pleaded not guilty in Madison County Circuit Court. On Wednesday, the indictment for Jordan Leah Sullivan was released, showing that she is being charged with one count of aggravated DUI in connection with the death of Tyra Small-Jackson, a teacher at Nichols Middle School.

A Jackson man has been arrested after receiving drug and gun charges from the Jackson Police Department Narcotics Unit. JPD executed a search warrant near the 100 block of Wacaster Street and arrested John Thomas, 32, and charged him with Possession of Cocaine with a Firearm with Intent within 1500 feet of a Church, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Marijuana with a Firearm.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The number of drug overdoses and fentanyl use is a growing concern across the country especially for first responders in Jackson. There are two types of fentanyl. One is pharmaceutical. This means it is prescribed by a doctor, typically for pain management. The other is illicitly manufactured, or black market. According to the Center for Disease Control, most fentanyl-related overdoses are related to the black market.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - More warm and sunny weather in our First Alert Forecast through the weekend, but big changes are ahead next week. Highs will rise to the mid-80s today through Saturday, but some places could see temperatures near 90 again by Sunday afternoon. Overnight lows stay pleasant in the mid and upper 50s. The cold front bringing our big changes will start to move in Monday, dropping temps to the low 80s. The cool air will settle in by Tuesday leaving us in the upper 60s to low 70s (well below average) in the afternoon. Overnight lows Tuesday night will fall to the mid and upper 40s, and we will do the same thing again on Wednesday.
