FAIRFIELD, N.J. (TCN) -- Police arrested a 39-year-old man they allege shot two Ramada Inn employees, killing one and injuring another. According to the Fairfield Police Department, on Oct. 4, police responded to the Ramada Inn on Two Bridges Road and found Mohammed Sahariar and a second male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Sahariar was pronounced dead at the scene, while his co-worker, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The suspect, Tyrone Malcolm, fled the area following the shooting.

Sparta Police Update on Sawmill House Fire: Identity of Victim and Cause of Fire
SPARTA, NJ – The victim of the house fire on Sawmill Road has been identified by the Sparta Police Department as Wayne Pait. The 78-year-old died in the fire on Thursday, October 10 that police are saying was “accidental in nature.”According to Captain Thomas Snyder, the Sparta and Sussex County investigators believe an LED flashlight was the ignition source of the fire. They said the fire may have started from a flashlight left turned on overnight.
