GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A woman was shot in the chest in Palisade during a suspected carjacking Tuesday night, according to police. Gunshots were reported in the 200 block of West 3rd Street around 11:00 p.m. Shortly after the gunshots were reported, Police Chief Jesse Stanford said there was a crash near the Golden Gate Station. There, they found a woman with apparent gunshot wounds to the chest.

The identification of the body will be released by the Montrose County Coroner's Office after notifying the next of kin.
