Syracuse, N.Y. - The highest-ranked football recruit in Delaware committed to Syracuse football on Sunday, according to a report from Syracuse Orange on Fan Nation reporter Mike McCallister.

Tristen Graham, a 3-star defensive end recruit listed at 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds by On3Sports.com, took an official visit to Syracuse over the weekend, where McCallister reported that he committed to play for the Orange.

Graham could not be reached immediately by Syracuse.com via social media.

He is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in Delaware according to On3Sports.com. He has not been graded by the other major recruiting websites (247 Sports, ESPN or Rivals). The various recruiting websites list Graham with offers from Michigan State, Temple, Old Dominion, Buffalo and other schools.

Graham plays at Middletown High School, a Delaware powerhouse that has won eight state titles and has produced a number of the state’s top players in recent years.

The websites list Graham as Syracuse’s fourth recruit in the Class of 2024, joining New Jersey siblings Trashon and Travon Dye, as well as Pennsylvania offensive line prospect Noah Rosahec. All three of those players are three-star recruits by On3 and 247 Sports.

Two ACC teams currently have fewer verbal commitments than the Orange in the Class of 2024, Virginia and Boston College. Commitments are not binding until athletes sign a National Letter of Intent.

With the increased frequency and importance of transfers in college football, landing the country’s most talented freshman is no longer the only way for college football teams to build out their rosters. Last year, Syracuse only signed 15 high school players during National Signing Day last December, along with five transfers.

Syracuse does not currently have a player on its roster from Delaware and the state traditionally produces only a handful of Power-Five products each year. The Orange has had success recruiting the state before, most recently with running back Jerome Smith.
