The location of the former Starbucks at 177 Marshall Street will have coffee brewing in its future once again.
The empty storefront on the Syracuse University hill is being leased by a group out of Brooklyn that has an extensive background in owning and operating delis and bagel shops in New York City and Long Island.
Mark Neiderfer, a 1979 Syracuse University alum and one of the shop owners, wanted to give Syracuse a classic NYC bagel experience ever since visiting his son, a member of Syracuse University's Class of 2020.
The owners have long wanted a spot on Marshall Street and believe it is the ideal place to serve the Syracuse community.
They plan to bring NYC bagel shop favorites, such as bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches, various bagel and cream cheese flavors, great coffee and sandwiches with premium deli meats and cheeses.
The group has not provided a name for the business yet, but said they hope to build a presence in Central New York and eventually expand the franchise.
The name of the business and additional details will be announced in a press release next week.
The space was represented by and leased to this group by Christopher Snyder.
