Syracuse, N.Y. — A 45-year-old man was shot in both legs on the South Side in Syracuse Tuesday morning, police said
Around 8:20 a.m. Syracuse police received a ShotSpotter notification for Hatch Street that seven rounds were possibly fired, according to dispatches from the Onondaga County 911 Center.
Police arrived at the driveway of 324 Hatch St. and found a man shot in both legs, said Lt. Matthew Malinowski, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Police Department. The man told police a man in a black ski mask had shot him and run off, according to dispatches.
The man was taken to Upstate University Hospital and is expected to survive, he said.
Officers could be seen looking at a gray Ford pickup truck parked in between 322 and 324 Hatch St. At least six orange evidence markers could be seen next to the truck.
An officer reported to dispatch there were at least five bullet casings at the scene.
Nine Syracuse police cars and one crime scene van were on the street.
Children around the corner waiting for a school bus talked about the shooting.
“The bus is too scared to come because there was a shooting!” one said.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
