Roseburg Fire Department installs new emergency vehicle alert notification system
ROSEBURG, Ore. – Motorists have a new way to be warned of approaching emergency vehicles, thanks to the Roseburg Fire Department. One of the department’s trucks is equipped with a system called Haas Alert. The system automatically sends notifications to drivers in the area when a fire truck’s lights and sirens are activated which are received and displayed via navigation systems and entertainment screens as well as on cell phones, letting drivers know a fire truck is on the way or on the scene of an urgent call. Oregon’s ‘Move Over’ law requires motorists to immediately pull off to the right side of the road and stop when an emergency vehicle is seen or heard coming.
