An Architectural Tour of Westmoreland County from Virginia Living
Back in the fall of 2023, Virginia Living magazine dispatched me to historic Westmoreland County for a few days, to scout a number of historic sites there, and one not too far away in Warsaw. The result is a feature article for the magazine that’s now in print and online. Here’s the first in a series of posts from it.
One injured when vehicle flips
On Sunday morning just before 9 a.m., a vehicle traveling on Colton Point Road in Bushwood reportedly flipped, trapping a motorist. According to the Mechancisville Volunteer Fire Department, crews freed the motorist, who was then taken to an area hospital.
Selecting a mayor

MSP Leonardtown Barrack Arrests, DUIs And Warrants Served
On 5/3/2024, Sr Tpr Oyler conducted a traffic stop on Budds Creek Road at Colton Point Road, Clements, MD. While conducting standard field sobriety tests on the driver of the vehicle, identified as Shaun Lee Resico, 45 of Hollywood, MD, Resico admitted to having suspected Cocaine. Suspected Cocaine was located in the vehicle and Resico was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was charged with Possession of CDS: Not Cannabis and Possession of CDS: Paraphernalia. He was not issued any citations related to driving under the influence.
St. Mary's County commissioners move bond bill funds
Leftover funds from bond bills are headed toward three projects, the St. Mary’s County commissioners announced at Tuesday’s meeting in Leonardtown. The $30 million consolidated public improvement bonds were closed in 2022, and identified projects to receive the bond proceeds. A total of 13 projects did not require the use of a total of $1,524,038, which will now be put toward airport Improvements ($998,588), recreational facilities and park improvements ($394,656)...
