Reno horses competing with housing developers over habitat
RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A new housing development has Reno horses competing for habitat. You can lead a horse to water..... and for hundreds of years that’s exactly why wild mustangs have been coming to Steamboat Creek. That is, until about a week ago when a housing development in Damonte Ranch put in a new fence line, keeping the horses from reaching the water. Watching the horses struggle to find their way around the fence has created public outcry. Tania Tavcar, a longtime resident and wild horse advocate, explains that the fence is doing more than just keeping the horses from water.
