A 22-year-old man from Renton appeared in front of a King County judge, charged with strangulation of a Bellevue police officer and two instances of high-speed evasion. The sequence of events started at a car dealership in Bellevue where the accused reportedly tried to steal a safe and assaulted a police officer during the intervention. Bellevue police were alerted to the alleged burglary in the early hours of Saturday. On arriving at the scene, an officer found the suspect attempting to drill into a safe. Upon confrontation, the suspect attacked the officer before fleeing in a stolen vehicle.
