PARIS — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats suffered a tough loss Saturday, falling 6-5 in a close game against the North Lamar Panthers. After initially pulling ahead after being behind, the Panthers would score two unanswered runs to steal the win, handing the Wildcats a bitter defeat.

The top of the fourth inning saw the Wildcats score three runs. Alex Whittle, Ty Holt, and Braxton Wall all scored, as the Wildcats pulled ahead 5-4. Unfortunately, the lead was shortlived, as the Panthers added two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, reclaiming the lead at 6-5.

The final three innings would be scoreless, as neither team managed another run. This allowed the Panthers to hold on for a 6-5 win, handing the Wildcats a disappointing loss.

As a team, the Wildcats batted 5 for 23 (.217) from the plate. Mitchell led with two hits, while Corbin Argenbright, Alex Macias, and Whittle added one hit each.

Mitchell was also the Wildcats’ leading scorer with two runs. Holt, Wall, and Whittle would add one run each.

Argenbright suffered the loss on the mound. Across five innings, he surrendered six runs (one earned), six walks, and five hits, notching three strikeouts. Ty Robinson pitched one relief inning, striking out one batter and walking one.
