Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in North Bay Shore last night.
Isaiah Santos Rubio was driving a 1995 Honda Civic eastbound on Pine Aire Drive when he attempted to pass a 2006 Ford van on the right at the intersection of Peck Avenue at approximately 10:10 p.m. The Honda struck the curb, then hit the Ford. The vehicle left the roadway hitting a sign and utility pole.
Rubio was ejected from the Honda.
Rubio, 20, of Bay Shore, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. A passenger in the Honda, as well as the driver and two passengers in the Ford, were transported to the same hospital, treated for minor injuries, and released.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6553.
