This weekend there will be a slow pitch softball tournament in Stuart.

The Brian Moon Classic, named after Stuart-Menlo baseball player Brian Moon, is in its second year. Moon was a lover of baseball, and he held some records for a time, but passed in 2017. Moon’s niece Nancy Moore says that anyone may bring a team to join the tournament, just visit this website or show up the day of the tournament to register and pay the $200 team registration fee.

There are currently four teams set to play, including last year’s champion. Moore along with other organizers hope to raise enough funds to start awarding a scholarship annually to one softball player and one baseball player for West Central Valley.
