An Oklahoma Highway Patrol officer fatally shot the driver of a tractor-trailer Wednesday when "some sort of altercation" erupted during a traffic stop at an interstate toll plaza.
The shooting occurred on Interstate 44 near Stroud, about 55 miles east of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokeswoman Sarah Stewart told the Associated Press .
The trooper stopped the semi-truck's driver for a traffic violation when "some sort of altercation" took place between the two and the officer opened fire, Stewart said.
"We're still trying to figure everything out," she told the wire service, adding that investigators were still at the scene.
The names of the trooper, who was not injured, and the man were not released.
Stewart declined to say if any weapons were found on the man because of the investigation.
