Streetsboro police: 4th student reports incident of sextortion
STREETSBORO, Ohio (WOIO) - A fourth Streetsboro High School student recently came forward to report a case of sextortion, according to Streetsboro police.
Police said the student told their mother immediately and made a report with Streetsboro police.
Officials announced a Mental Health and Safety Forum will be held at 6 p.m. May 10 at Streetsboro High School.
The Mental Health and Safety Forum will feature the parents of James Woods, the 17-year-old Streetsboro student who committed suicide after falling victim to sextortion.
Break out sessions that are grade-level specific and will cover relevant topics will follow the keynote event, the post says.
“I google searched Sextortion in Ohio the other day, Streetsboro, Streetsboro, Streetsboro, Streetsboro” said Streetsboro Police Chief Patricia Wain.
Police even have a picture of one of the suspected predators.
Wain told 19 News they are likely from overseas.
“The ivory Coast and Nigeria are 2 of the big regions where sextortion is a job. It’s like having any other job. This just what they do” said Wain.
