Driver Hurt in Car/Bus Accident
A car struck the rear of a school bus Friday afternoon in Stoddard County, leaving the car’s driver seriously hurt. The MSHP reports 32 year old Ashley Isaac of Dexter was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital. The accident happened on US 60 just east of Dexter.
Liberty Utilities residential customers in the southeast district will see a rate hike by 2.39%
Beginning October 1st, Liberty Utilities residential customers in the southeast district will see a rate hike by 2.39% for those of those using approximately 10,000 cubic feet of natural gas. The rate change reflects the Weather Normalization Adjustment Rider which authorizes rate adjustments based on weather variations. The purpose of the increase is to adjust revenue for differences between actual heating degree days and normal heating degree days. The Southeast District service area includes the counties of Butler, Cape Girardeau, Dunklin, Iron, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Ripley, Scott, Stoddard and Wayne.
Puxico pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle
DUDLEY, Mo. — A Puxico, Missouri, pedestrian was killed after being struck by a tractor-trailer Thursday, Sept. 21 in Stoddard County. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 12:58 p.m. on county road 477, five miles north of Dudley, as the northbound tractor-trailer operated by Lawrence R. Cookson, 83, of Puxico struck a pedestrian, William E. Vanover, 31, of Puxico in the roadway.

Dudley man dies in weekend crash
DUDLEY, Mo. — A Dudley man died in a single-vehicle crash Sunday, Sept. 17 in Stoddard County. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 11:53 a.m. on Highway WW, three miles north of Dudley, as the northbound semi-truck operated by Noah B. Rushing, 22, of Dudley ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and ran off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment.
