Here are 7 ways to celebrate Pride Month around Stockton

June is here and so is Pride Month.  

This month — celebrated in June to commemorate the June 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City in which patrons of a gay bar resisted arrest after a police raid — is a celebration of love and the LGBTQ+ community. June brings many fun and colorful events that not only celebrate but educate and bring awareness.  

From a “Zine Launch” event at the San Joaquin Pride Center on Tuesday, June 6 to the family-friendly “We are Family” Drag Show at Pixi Woods on Saturday, June 17, these are just some of the events happening in June for Pride Month.

Zine Launch

Head over to the San Joaquin Pride Center at 937 N. Yosemite St. in Stockton for a “Zine Launch” event for their artist of the month opening night.

There will be a zine distribution, zine reading, spoken word and even drag performances, Michael Wayne from the San Joaquin Pride Center said in an Instagram post.

When: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 6

Transform Potluck

Enjoy the “Transform Potluck” with the trans and non-binary support group at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 8. The TRANSform San Joaquin County, the Queer, Transgender, and Non-Binary Alliance is a group organized by the San Joaquin Pride Center.  

Classic and gluten-free frybread will be served. Everyone attending is welcome to bring their favorite “taco topping, side dish, dessert” or anything they would like to share.

Lodi Pride Festival

Lodi Pride Festival is back for its third year this Saturday, June 10 at High Water Brewing in Lodi.  

This year's event theme is inspired by the Wizard of Oz, "Over the rainbow.” A family-friendly, community event, with entertainment, vendors, beer, food and lots of pride you won’t want to miss.  

When: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 10

Pride Month Story Time 

Stop by the Troke Branch Library on Thursday, June 15 for a Pride Month Story Time. Children will be able to meet an LGBTQ+ role model.

'We Are Family' Drag Show 

The San Joaquin Pride Center, nonprofit organization will be having a fundraiser on Saturday, June 17 at Pixi Woods in Stockton.  

The “We Are Family” Drag Show, is a family-friendly event that will bring “nostalgic characters to life”. This is a safe space event and welcomes all ages. This event will support local drag and the local LGBT+ community. 

This event requires a ticket for entry. No tickets will be sold at the door on the day of. There will be security and law enforcement presence for the safety of those in attendance.

“The Art of Being YOU” PREVAIL celebration

PREVAIL formerly known as the Women’s Center - Youth & Family Services (WCYFS), along with the San Joaquin Pride Center and the Delta College Pride Club are hosting “The Art of Being YOU” a celebration starting at 3 p.m. at the Women's Center.

This event is a space for local LGBTQIA+ artists to display work and support discussions “around equality and respect.” 

 This celebration will have art, music, food, “inspirational testimonies” and opening remarks by Senator Susan Talamantes Eggman's office.

When: 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, June 21

“Extravaganza” 

The San Joaquin Pride Center “Extravaganza” fundraiser will be an event with “debauchery, scandal, and entertainment on the darker side.”  

There will also be lots of laughs, burlesque, drag and more at this 21+ event.
