Discount shoppers rejoice, T.J. Maxx is moving to the Park West Place shopping center in north Stockton.

The off-price name-brand retailer is closing its doors at 730 W. Hammer Lane and celebrating its grand opening at Park West Place on Thursday. The grand opening will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. and open to shoppers at 8 a.m. The store will stay open until 10 p.m. — two hours after its regular closing time.

"Our newest store in Stockton will offer an ever-changing selection of high-quality, on-trend, and brand-name merchandise at the amazing prices T.J. Maxx is known for," said Peter Benjamin, president of T.J. Maxx. "Our buyers create a unique mix that offers value for styles in every department, and we're excited to bring this experience to a new neighborhood."

A T. J. Maxx is coming to the Park West Place shopping center on Trinity Parkway in north Stockton.

Their new location is the former home of Bed, Bath, and Beyond at 10822 Trinity Parkway, in between Kohl’s and Bob's Discount Furniture. Bed, Bath, and Beyond closed in 2020 after the company announced plans to shutter 200 stores and eliminate nearly 3,000 jobs. The big-box store has since filed for bankruptcy and closed more stores.

At 22,553 square feet, the new location will feature an easy-to-shop layout, bright and spacious dressing rooms, and a single-line queue for faster checkout, Benjamin said.

T.J. Maxx offers deals on fashion, accessories, jewelry, home furnishings and decor, and beauty products. It is the latest addition to Park West Place. It joins clothing stores Maurice’s and Tilly’s, which both opened at the 19-year-old shopping center in March.

"We're excited for it to be coming," said Cassandra Zervos, a hairstylist at Great Clips. "We're always excited to see new businesses coming."

Great Clips moved into Park West Place next to Eyeglass World last year. Zervos said the salon has seen an increase in clientele since moving from its previous location at 2828 Country Club Blvd., Suite 8. That location, she added, did not have as many neighboring businesses.

"It's cool to see more stores coming in," said Kelley McGinnis, a retail associate at PetSmart, just a few doors down from T.J. Maxx. "I feel like this area is diverse in what it offers customers."

McGinnis, who has worked in the shopping center for over a year, said she has seen many retailers and restaurant chains move in. But there is still one she is hoping for.

"I would like to see a Dutch Bros. here. That would be a good addition to this area," McGinnis said.

While there's no Dutch Bros. Coffee at Park West Place, there is a Starbucks to satisfy the cravings of coffee lovers. Other popular stores at the shopping center include Five Below, Old Navy, and Target. It features over 50 businesses, from day spas to dining to retail.

Regular store hours at T.J. Maxx will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Sunday.

To celebrate its new location in Stockton, T.J. Maxx will donate $10,000 to the Child Abuse Prevention Council of San Joaquin County. This nonprofit organization aims to protect children and serve families experiencing physical, verbal, sexual, or emotional abuse or neglect.

The Stockton store will also partner with all other stores nationwide in sponsoring Save the Children's U.S. programs through T.J. Maxx's annual in-store fundraising campaign.
