Maricela Cornejo will enter the ring at the lightest official weight of her career for a short-notice assignment against one of the best women’s boxers in history. The 36-year-old middleweight was 155 pounds during Friday’s weigh-in, exactly five pounds lighter than her weight for each of her past three starts. Her latest trip to the scales comes ahead of her challenge of three-division and reigning undisputed middleweight champion and pound-for-pound queen Claressa Shields, who was 159.6 pounds for their DAZN main event Saturday from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

The K-Pg boundary at the West Bijou Site is unique due to its palynological extinction level, fern-spore spike, iridium anomaly and shocked quartz, Cretaceous and Paleogene (Tertiary) vertebrate fossils, magnetostratigraphy, and radiometric dating. Bisecting the site, West Bijou Creek, maintains a natural hydrologic pattern, flowing through a mosaic of upland and riparian shortgrass prairie plant communities, supporting a diversity of common and rare plant and wildlife species. West Bijou Site provides an excellent example of a valuable geologic resource located within a natural shortgrass prairie ecosystem."

Gervonta Davis apparently didn’t take the terms of his sentence of 90 days of home detention too seriously. The Baltimore Banner reported on its website Friday that Davis was jailed Thursday because spent time since his sentencing living at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore and a luxury condo he recently purchased in the Silo Point section of Baltimore. Davis, 28, was sentenced to 90 days of home detention, three years of probation and 200 hours of community service May 5 for causing a hit-and-run accident in November 2020 in Baltimore, Davis’ hometown.
