Due to the day’s slate of games running long, the McDonell Lady Macks’ state semifinal game versus Stevens Point Pacelli began at close to 10 p.m., almost an hour and a half later than scheduled.
At the time of print deadline Thursday evening, the Lady Macks had jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Junior catcher Morgan Wirtz started the rally with a two-RBI triple.
Another run scored on a passed ball, and they got one more on an RBI sacrifice fly by junior starting pitcher Katie Ruf.
With a win, McDonell would go on to the Division 5 state championship game at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning.
