On May 8, the Independence Varsity Girls Soccer team took on Potomac Falls for their senior night game. The Tigers have 10 seniors this year, including their two managers. Seniors Eva Anderson, Kaitlyn Nimmer, Jordan Sugatan, Reagan Wise, Kaitlyn Nimmer, Angela Grof-Tisza, Ava Galligan, Kylie Marshall, Ashley Perez and Alexa Kessler have all had a lasting impact on the girls soccer program.

Before the game, there was a senior walk out narrated by Nadia Smith. The senior players each walked out onto the field with their family members. The speeches consisted of their future plans for college and reflecting back on their favorite team memories.

The game had an emotional beginning with Sugatan, who is recovering from an ACL injury, stepping out onto the field to get a touch on the ball for her senior night game. The girls rallied around her to celebrate the special moment.

Following the heartfelt moment, the girls were in full swing. Within the first 10 minutes, the seniors were demonstrating their impeccable skills against the Potomac Falls Panthers. It was clear that these girls have built a special connection on the field as their movements and passing were seamless. A phenomenal pass from Anderson to Wise landed the Tigers with a corner kick. Nimmer lands the shot, giving the Tigers their first of many goals of this game. At the end of the first half the Tigers were up 6-0 with goals from Nimmer , Marshall (PK), and Wise. There were notable assists from Nimmer and Galligan.

Coming out of half time, the Tigers did not drop their energy. Running on a high from their 6-0 lead, the Tigers continue to make strategic moves on the field. The Tigers end in a mercy rule with a score of 11-0 thanks to goals from Grof-Tisza, Wise, Nimmer, and Kayla Simpson and amazing assists from Galligan. It was a perfect end to a memorable senior night. 

On June 1, The Tigers defeated Stone Bridge 8-0, claiming the region champions title. Make sure to stay turned in with The Tigers as they make their way through states!
