Confirmed: New DQ Grill & Chill on its way to Loudoun County

Not to toot our own horn (OK, we will anyway) — but our prediction last summer that a new Dairy Queen Grill & Chill was in the works for Loudoun has proven correct. The restaurant is coming to the Guilford Station development in Sterling.

That’s at the intersection of Church Road and Atlantic Boulevard — just east of State Road 28. It’s also the home of a 7-Eleven, an Enterprise rental car facility, and The Human Bean, a new drive-thru coffee shop.

Last June, The Burn reported that based on filings with the county and some online research, we believed a DQ  Grill & Chill was a likely candidate for the fast-food restaurant being proposed for the site. But we weren’t able to get any official, on-the-record confirmation.

Now, we know it’s happening because they’ve helpfully put up a sign saying so. As The Burn has previously reported, along with the DQ Grill & Chill, a new Station Auto Wash car wash and a new Goodwill store will also be built at Guilford Station.

What’s not mentioned is a tennis and pickleball facility that was once under consideration for the site. No word on whether those plans are still moving forward at the location or have fallen through.

If you are not familiar with the Grill & Chill concept, Dairy Queen has a variety of different kinds of restaurants out there, ranging from simple ice cream stands to larger restaurants serving not just cold treats, but also burgers, hot dogs, French fries, even breakfasts.

A Grill & Chill is usually one of these bigger stores featuring a more extensive menu — so that should be what we are getting at the Sterling location.
