Sheriff Confirms Sterling City Shooting Was Fatal

 

STERLING CITY, TX – More information regarding the shooting in Sterling City earlier this week has been revealed.

At the time of the shooting little was revealed. However now Sterling County Sheriff Russell Irby has confirmed that his shooting was fatal. 

In the shooting there were injuries to two men. Neither of them have been identified.

The following is Sheriff Irby's full statement:

On May 7, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Sterling County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of 11th and Garnett Street for a call of shots fired.  Upon arrival, deputies identified two males who had been involved in an altercation. Deputies began to treat both men for their wounds; however, one died from the injuries. This incident is being investigated by the Sterling County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Texas Rangers.  This is an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available currently.
