With a goal of reaching their third straight College World Series, Stanford found themselves ranked as the No. 8 overall seed.

In earning a higher seed it also means that they will again be hosting a regional. Their regional consists of two-seed Texas A&M (36-25, 14-16 SEC), three-seed Cal State Fullerton (31-22, 20-10 Big West) and four-seed San Jose State (22-28, 18-11 Mountain West). A group of teams that according to On3's Johnathan Wagner believes shouldn't challenge the Cardinal too much.

Wager cited Stanford's hitting ability and how it should carry them throughout the postseason.

Stanford earned a No. 8 national seed, and the Cardinal seemingly were gifted with a light regional. That might have something to do with the fact that this is the only regional out west, but regardless, Stanford can’t be too upset with this draw. The Cardinal’s strength is certainly at the plate, with a .317 team average with 102 home runs as a club. They have reliable hitters from 1-9, and won’t be an easy out.

He even went as far to say that Texas A&M is one of the weaker No. 2 seeds in the country and highlighted how much they struggled in SEC play and aren't a dangerous lineup. Wagner also stated Cal State Fullerton isn't on the stronger side either saying that if it weren't for them winning the Big West they might not have made it. Stanford does have familiarity with the Big West champs, as the Cardinal opened the season against the Titans and won the series 2-1.

Obviously Stanford won't want to undervalue any opponent regardless of who it is, but they would likely appreciate an anti-climatic trip to a regional.
