STANDISH (WGME) -- A heated dispute over donated land in Standish has come to an end after a nonprofit soccer club bought 22 acres on Moody Road for just $1, according to the Press Herald.

In 2014, Town Councilor Walter Butler donated the land to the town so new soccer fields could be built.
However, due to budget constraints, town leaders eventually changed plans and decided to sell the property.
When Butler found out, he said he wanted his land back, but his complaint was dismissed in court.

After a unanimous town council vote, the town will sell the land for $1 to the Bonny Eagle Soccer Club, a move Butler calls the best outcome he could've asked for.
