The family of a Stamford man found dead in a local park spoke publicly for the first time to News 12 Connecticut to call for justice.

"He was literally my best friend," said Jaquan Tahir Saez' mother, Maria Saez.

Saez was in tears Friday remembering her son.

"He was an amazing person. Very kindhearted, very sweet hearted," said Maria Saez.

A memorial sits in the family's Stamford home, full of candles and flowers.

Jaquan's father, Jason Kendrick, says his son meant everything to him.

"My life," he said.

Police say Jaquan Tahir Saez' body was found in Boccuzzi Park Monday night. Police are calling his death suspicious. They are still looking for answers.

Saez had been missing since Saturday.

"I definitely knew something wasn't right, cause even at 21 years old with him being an adult at this point, he made sure I always knew his location," said Maria Saez.

Saez graduated from Westhill High School and had started his own business. He was the oldest of six kids.

The family held a vigil for Saez the other night in their backyard. The candles are still there today spelling out his name.

"We are angry, we are hurt and we just need somebody to come forward for this, because it's not right and we need a little peace," said Maria Saez.

A GoFundMe for Saez has already raised over $5,000 in a day. Police say they are making good progress in their investigation but have no further details.

The family says they are still in the process of making funeral arrangements.
