Two Stafford men got into a bit of a pickle after the larceny of a vehicle. Lucky for them, Rappahannock Regional Jail serves three meals a day.

On March 16th at approximately 2:02 p.m. deputies were in the area of Burger King, located at 269 Garrisonville Road, but not for a late lunch. They observed a vehicle that was reported stolen on March 11th from the Staffordboro Commuter Lot currently in the shopping center. When First Sergeant J.D. Floirendo arrived, the stolen vehicle was unoccupied and parked in front of the Tobacco Hut, located at 253 Garrisonville Road. Deputies decided to surveil the vehicle until the driver returned.

Their wait for service was a short one. Two males exited the business and got into the stolen vehicle. Deputies converged on the vehicle and both males immediately began fleeing on foot in different directions.

The driver, not wanting to stick around to be asked wasabi, ran deeper into the shopping center towards Kobe Japanese Steakhouse. Meanwhile, the passenger fled in the direction of Taco Bell. The driver ran into the waiting arms of Deputy S.M. Eastman and Deputy G.P. McCaulley where he quickly complied with commands and was taken into custody. First Sergeant Floirendo gave chase to the passenger as he ran across the street to enter Outback. First Sergeant Floirendo entered the restaurant and located the suspect attempting to hide in plain view. His plan failed, no blooming onion for him.

The driver was identified as Marvin Nunez, 18, and the passenger was identified as Dejuan Ortiz, 23. Both Nunez and Ortiz were charged with grand larceny, possession of a stolen vehicle, obstruction of justice, and eluding. Both were held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond and the vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.
