On May 28, Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a brush fire in the vicinity of 26th and South F in Springfield.

According to a release from ESF, the 5 acre fire burned uphill beyond the old quarry.

The Oregon Department of Forestry assisted with the operation using a helicopter.

There were no residential or commercial structures threatened and no evacuations were necessary.

The fire is now under control following thirty-seven 320 gallon air drops, and a bulldozer used to access and line the fire.
