Ten new Springfield Police officers sworn in – seven vets promoted this past Thursday

Ten new Springfield police officers have been sworn in, and seven veteran cops have been promoted within the department.

Police Chief Ken Scarlette administered the oath to the new hires on Thursday, with Mayor Misty Buscher and other officials in attendance.

Three of the ten new officers come to SPD from other departments, including one who had previously served on the force in Springfield before taking a job in Indiana.

Among the promotions – Commander Sara Pickford has been named a deputy police chief, and Deputy Chief Don Mumaw was formally promoted to Assistant Chief.
