Three teens face weapons charges

Two semi-automatic Glock pistols were retrieved from the route of a vehicle that fled from Springfield Police early Sunday morning.  At 1:02 a.m., a vehicle was stopped in the 1100 block of E. Cass Street. The Police Department Street Crimes Unit made contact with the occupants who were identified as Xavier Young (male, 19 years old of Springfield), John Jenkins (male, 18 years old of Decatur), and Antione Bryson (male, 19 years old of Decatur). The officer reported seeing an open bottle of alcohol in the vehicle and smelling cannabis.  The vehicle fled and stopped in the 1100 block of E. Washington.

Officers traced the route the vehicle had traveled and found a Glock 22 40-caliber pistol along with a Glock 19X 9mm caliber pistol. All occupants were transported to the Sangamon County Jail pending formal charges from the Sangamon County States Attorney Office. Young was arrested for armed violence, aggravated assault, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and  aggravated fleeing and eluding. Jenkins was arrested for armed violence, methamphetamine possession, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of a firearm- No FOID. Bryson was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm – No FOID
