The closure of Jefferson and Madison Streets at the 10th Street tracks next week is just one of several road closures in the months ahead as work continues on Springfield’s rail consolidation project.

The closure of Jefferson and Madison gets underway next Wednesday and will last up to 14 months while a new underpass is built, with traffic being diverted down to Carpenter Street during the project.

In addition, Cook and South Grand will have separate closures of around 10 days each, starting in late spring, for bridge work associated with the project, while longer closures at Monroe and Washington will get underway this summer.

You can learn more about the project at an open house from 4 pm to 7 pm Thursday at the BOS Center.
