The board of Springfield’s Lutheran High School has made the decision to tear down the school building on West Washington Street and “decommission” the campus.

The decision comes after a determination that the building has been damaged beyond repair by mine subsidence on the west side of Springfield.

Lutheran High classes have been held at the Church of the Nazarene on the Sixth Street Frontage Road since last fall, and will remain there next year as the school continues its search for a site for a new high school building.

Meanwhile, a “decommissioning” of the West Washington Street campus is planned for June.
