Scooter’s Coffee is expanding, adding a second Springfield location – which is set for its soft opening this Friday (March 24) at 1740 Wabash Avenue – an outlot of the Chatham Square shopping center.
Franchise owners and Pleasant Plains residents Marcus and Lauryn McGlasson told the Springfield Business Journal that they discovered Scooter’s whale on vacation a few years ago, and decided to open their first location in Taylorville in 2021, followed up by a store at 2935 Clear Lake Avenue in Springfield in December 2022.
“I work as a nurse, but I also wanted to do something more.”
In addition to their Central Illinois locations, the couple are planning to open more stores in Indiana in the near future. Scooter’s Coffee is based in Omaha, NE and has grown rapidly since launching in 2010 – starting with 75 and finishing 2022 with 300 stores. The company recently announced plans to have 1,000 locations by 2024.
An official grand opening is slated for Friday, April 7, with a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled at 11AM. Operating hours will be 5:30AM to 8:00PM, and menu items include all-day breakfast, in addition to coffee drinks.
