A standoff with local police has ended peacefully.

Sheriff Jack Campbell says deputies were called to a home in Spaulding around 8:45 Tuesday morning for a report of a man in distress.

After attempting to make contact with him, police determined that the man was no longer inside the residence. Because his location was unknown, Riverton schools were temporarily placed on lockdown.

Just after 11am, deputies located the man’s vehicle on Springfield’s west side. The man refused to stop for police, who eventually followed him to the 35-hundred block of Ogden Road, where he stopped.

Shortly after 1pm, the man exited the vehicle without incident and was taken to Springfield Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

The sheriff’s office says charges are pending.
