Hundreds of pro-life demonstrators have rallied in Springfield in the first big right-to-life march locally since the Roe v. Wade decision was overturned last year.
Springfield Catholic Bishop Thomas John Paprocki was one of the featured speakers at Tuesday’s State Capitol event, which was part celebration over the decision overturning a constitutional right to abortion, and part protest against continued efforts to preserve and expand abortion access in Illinois.
In addition to the large pro-life crowd, a counter-protest by pro-choice groups was also held just across the street from the Capitol.
