FRA Grants $3M to Virginia for Rail Crossing Updates
RICHMOND, Va. – The Commonwealth of Virginia receives over $3 million from the FRA for rail crossing upgrades. According to a press release from the Virginia DRPT, funding from the US Department of Transportation’s Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant Program will provide upgrades in several counties across the Commonwealth, including Hanover, Stafford, and Spotsylvania:

Home invasion reported in Spotsy
The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident late Wednesday where a county man was shot twice by an unidentified assailant or assailants. Sheriff’s Major Liz Scott said the home-invasion shooting took place about 11:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Southgate Avenue. The 39-year-old victim and his parents say they heard loud pounding on the door before someone forced their way inside the home.
Black bear spotted in Spotsylvania County

A Spotsylvania man was ordered Wednesday to serve six years in prison for running a red light last year in the county and killing a married couple. Jonathan Roger Hanson, 28, pleaded guilty in Spotsylvania Circuit Court to two counts of involuntary manslaughter. Commuters now have nearly 700 additional parking spaces in Spotsylvania County at a new Park and Ride that VDOT cut the ribbon on today. Located at Rt. 1 and Commonwealth Drive about 2 miles from I-95 Exit 126, the site offers 14 accessible parking spaces, 10 spaces for motorcycle parking plus a bicycle rack. A dedicated area is provided for transit arrivals and departures and carpool and vanpool pickups and drop offs.
